FAILURE IS NOT FINAL!
You can bounce back and be better

Joseph Oladipo

Will SmithI failed, so did Barack Obama, Abraham Lincoln and Will Smith. Depending on your background, you might define failure differently from the way I do, but at its basics, failure is simply not hitting the target. An F instead of an A, B or C score, a report that did not meet up to the company’s standard, not successful in an interview, relationship breakdown, not winning an election... the list goes on and on. Nobody wants to fail, and if there is anything I fear; it is failure. That said though, let me also add, that all of us, including ME will fail at one thing or another in life. But failure does not have to be final for you.  Many people know Will Smith, but few know that before he became the actor we love today, he started as a rap artist and ... failed!

It has been said that all men fail, the difference between those who eventually become successful and those who do not is that the latter chose to remain on the ground. Life is not fair, (I still find it hard to accept that though) but you have to make the most of it. I grew up expecting the best of the world and of myself, a devout conservative Catholic Boy who later joined a Holiness Pentecostal Movement, what could go wrong? Nothing until... I failed my O level exam, carried over a major course in school, could not win the heart of the girl I had a crush on, was refused visa severally, and experienced a personal conflict that led to a broken relationship.

Oh the pains of failure, never do I want to experience it again, never. I have a feeling that your failure stories though not exactly like, are quite similar to mine, and that like me, you really do not want to continue with this string of failures. You want an end to come to them.... Read on

What you need to do

Worried Lady

Funny, but some of us think ‘straight’ and others don’t. When we ‘don’t think straight’ it can usually be recognised from the way we speak and the way we write if we chose to put out thoughts down on paper. When someone around us ‘doesn’t think straight’ (crooked thinking) it gets us worried.

We sometimes come across people who express ‘bizarre’ opinions about ordinary every day things of life. We recognise that the opinions they express have no basis in reality. We tend to ‘fear for them’ when we realise how firmly held these beliefs are and, worse still, that they are held on inadequate grounds. Our panic gets close to desperation as the full extent of the problem unravels and we find that these beliefs are not affected by rational arguments or plain straight-forward facts. Another name for ‘crooked thinking’ is ‘delusion’. The main thing about ‘crooked thinking’ (delusion) is that the belief or opinion is not arrived at through normal processes of logical thinking and is held with such conviction that it cannot be altered by evidence to the contrary.

In someone who does not ‘think straight’, this crooked form of thinking can affect almost everything they think about and can take several forms. The commonest form of ‘crooked thinking’ is when the person believes they are being persecuted. This is also called ‘paranoia’. We would then describe the person as being ‘paranoid’.

The word paranoia is derived from the Greek word ‘para’ (beside) and ‘nous’ (mind). It was used in ancient Greek literature to mean ‘out of mind’ i.e. of ‘unsound mind or insane’. In today’s world, ‘paranoia’ is only used when someone ‘does not think straight’. It is not used in a way that means someone is insane.... Read on

FAITH
Cross it out
Abraham Oludolapo

The cross is an important issue in the Christian faith because it was at the cross that the work of salvation was done and completed. It is an emblem of suffering and pain,  and a reminder of what our Lord and Saviour went through to give us salvation. In this discourse I want to look at something very important for our Christian living and that is our character. Someone said and I quite agree that Christianity is a religion of character by which he was referring to the fact that character transformation is an evidence of a life that has encountered Jesus. Unfortunately, in our days good character seem to have departed from many of us believers
WHAT IS CHARACTER?
Character can be referred to as the following: nature, quality, temperament, disposition, spirit, moral fiber or make up. Let us look closely at each of these meanings believing that the Spirit of grace will grant us insight into the heart of our father...

Chat About God
The things that are freely given to us

He that spareth not his own son but delivereth him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Romans 8:32.

The things that are freely given to us are our inheritance as Children of the Most High God.

Isaiah 55:1-2 says ‘Everyone who thirsts, come to the waters. And you who have no money, come buy and eat, yes come buy and eat without money and without price... ’

To inherit means to  receive a property or title as an heir, and Romans 8:17 says we are heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ. What does it mean to be an heir of God and joint-heir with Christ? More
