Total recovery gives an idea that something had been
lost prior to the time of considering recovery. We have all at certain
points in our lives lost one thing or another, either precious or
not too precious; some of the losses are so tragic that they set
us on a downward journey hence the importance of 'TOTAL RECOVERY'.
The total recovery I mean is getting back all that you have lost
and in their original position.
By this I mean if your possession was taken and you
were rendered empty you now got it back as it was, regardless of
how long it had been taken away from you. This reminds me of a sister
who lost her husband and was forced out of the house by her brother-in-law
who took possesion of the house.
This happened at the time when she was not saved, She
however met Christ along the line and grew in the understanding
of God’s word. She kept on praying and after twenty years,
she got back the house with the wicked brother-in-law coming back
out of much fear to ask for forgiveness and returning the house
he had confiscated for those twenty years. That is what our God
can do for His children.
Whenever we hear about total recovery our minds readily
go to the story of David in the book of 1Sam30. In that story David
went out to war and before he came back another enemy of his (The
Amalekites) had carried away all he had. After he had wept sore
with his fighting men, he asked God whether to pursue the enemies
or not and God gave him the go-ahead, which proves a point that
God is a vital factor in experiencing total recovery.
According to the word of God he pursued and got back everything
that the enemy had taken away 1Sam 30:8. The God who did it for
David is still alive and will do it again and again (Amen)
It is instructive to know that this God knows how it
feels to experience a loss because He had experienced several before.
You might be wondering what is it that God lost and that is the
basis of this message. For me I found it hard to believe that the
God of heaven and earth could lose anything knowing that He has
all things under His control.Nevertheless He did (and eventually
recovered all) and we’ll briefly go together on a journey
through scriptures to get an insight into this.
The Creation to the Fall of Man:
Gen1, God by His awesome power created the world and the book of
Revelation chapter 4 verse 11 made us understand that He created
it for his pleasure, this underscores the fact that the earth belongs
to God. After creation, God put man in charge of the earth and gave
him enough opportunities to operate, but this did not last long
as man fell and handed over the control of God’s earth to
the devil- God’s enemy. This is more painful considering that
man was created as the crown of God’s creation and that he
was created a little lower than the angels Ps 8:5. Be that as it
may, man fell and that set in motion a series of events that brought
God much pain (Gen6: 6) and regret. This is indeed a great loss.
The Flood: With the degenerative lifestyle
man was leading, God had no option than to destroy the world. Can
you fathom that? God destroying His own creation? The condition
of God at this point in time could be likened to that of a business
owner who because his workers were not performing well decides to
close the business. Well, God had to do that with great pains I
suppose. This state of things went on for years until God had to
do something drastic, which in this case was to destroy the earth.
The Saviour: Nothing was good enough to bring hope back except the son of God, and the way He would bring hope is by dying a shameful death, yet the men that He came to die for rejected Him and insisted on doing away with Him in place of a criminal, how shameful. Despite all these because God wanted total recovery and because He loves what He lost (man), He was willing to give all He had to ensure total recovery. So I encourage you to also give it your all and ensure that you recover all.
The restoration: 2 Cor5:
19, this verse of scripture made it clear that God actually recovered
all. God recovered all he lost, and I make bold to say to you that
you too can recover all if you have this God and you hold on to
Him.
God's promises: The following scriptures
are too clear about the fact that with God you can recover all:
Jer33: 3, Ps50: 15, Joel2: 25, Jer33: 6,7b & 11c and Jer49:
6(NIV)
Beloved, it is not over until it is over. Get back on
your knees and claim back your joy, peace, partner, job, health,
home, and all that the enemy has stolen from you.
SHALOM.
